This boat trip to an active volcano should not be missed. White Island is an active volcano about 40 kilometres off the coast of Whakatane in the Bay of Plenty. The guided trip takes you there by a fast catamaran and you are transferred to the island by a rubber dinghy. White Island forms part of the Pacific Rim of Fire and should not be missed.
